These easy little tricks will help keep your home looking and feeling like new!
1. TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES
Don't allow anyone to take their shoes beyond the front door. Shoes track around a lot of dirt, mud and germs which can get trapped in the carpet.
Try using two door mats, one on the outside and one on the inside for double the dirt catching opportunity.
2. MAKE THEIR BEDS
Your bed is the focal point of a bedroom. A made bed makes your room instantly look and feel cleaner, even if there are messes in other places.
3. WIPE DOWN THEIR KITCHEN COUNTERS
Before you go to bed, clear off the clutter on your counters an wipe them down. A wet rag or paper towel will help clean most debris and immediately freshen up your home.
Reduce clutter by using a cute basket to store keys, mail and important papers you will need later.
4. CLEAN AS THEY COOK
Who wants to clean up after eating a big meal? Once you are done cooking, clean everything before sitting down for you meal. All you will have let is plates and cutlery!
Clean out the dishwasher before you start cooking. When you finish using a pot or pan, clean it or put it right in the dishwasher.
5. WIPE DOWN THE SHOWER
Prevent hard water buildup and mold by using a squeegee or microfiber cloth to wipe down your shower after every use.
6. SWEEP BEFORE BED
Avoid dust bunny build up by sweeping before heading to bed. A quick sweep with pick up all of the extra dust that falls on your floors and prevent dust from spreading around your house.
Keep you baseboards clean by wiping them with a dryer sheet. The sheet prevents static buildup so that dust falls on the floor instead of staying on the baseboards.
7. PUT AWAY THEIR CLOTHES
It is really easy to come home from work and drop clothes on the bed, floor, or chair. Instead take a minute to put dirty clothes in the hamper or hang them back up. Do a quick check before bed ad put all leftover clothes in the hamper. You will be amazed how much cleaner your home will look with all the clothes picked up!
Cut your drying time in half by throwing a dry towel in with your wet laundry. Your clothes will be fully dry but the towel will be a little damp. Just hang the towel to let if finish drying.
8. WIPE MIRRORS AND SINKS
After you finish brushing your teeth, quickly wipe off any toothpaste dribble that lands on the faucet and mirror.
Keep a microfiber cloth by the sink. It will prevent streaking your mirror and hold any extra toothpaste.
9. OBEY THE 2 - MINUTE RULE
The two-minute rule states that "if it takes less than two minutes, then just do it now." This is a great rule to prevent procrastination. Apply this to the small cleaning tasks that pile up: Organizing your dresser, putting away leftovers, etc.
